Dr Ross Wilkins obtained his PhD in Computer Science in 2015 from Coventry University having previously graduated with a BSc in Software Engineering from Coventry University (2009). Since 2014, Ross has been employed as a Research Associate within Cogent Labs, Coventry University. His research covers the topics of sensing and the Internet of Things for socio-technical systems.
Ross’ research sits at the crossroads of systems engineering and data science. His research focuses on the development of robust, deployable sensing systems for real-life applications at scale, in broad application areas: residential buildings monitoring; microgrids; in-vehicle comfort monitoring; factory monitoring, and structural monitoring. These sensing systems produce vast amounts of data which is mined to generate knowledge. In particular, his research aims to develop systems that can have a social impact, e.g, the reduction of energy consumption in low-income housing.
